What is Botox and Xeomin?

Botox and Xeomin are examples of neurotoxins of Botulinum toxin A that is injected into muscles which results in the muscles relaxing. Botox and Xeomin are purified toxins that temporarily reduces muscle activity to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It’s the most popular cosmetic procedure in the United States.
Amanda and Dr. Hattier inject the prescription to sites on your face that would benefit from treatment. They also use Botox and Xeomin to reduce the nerve activity that causes hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.

How do Botox and Xeomin address the signs of aging?

Years of expressions – such as smiling, frowning, and squinting – can lead to lines and wrinkles due to the repeated muscular contractions. When injected into carefully selected sites, Botox reduces the muscle action in these areas so wrinkles become less obvious. Common sites for Botox include:
  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Frown lines between the eyebrows (the “11s”)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
As expert injectors, Amanda and Dr. Hattier precisely place Botox/Xeomin so you achieve natural results and don’t look frozen or permanently surprised as a result of your treatment

Frequently Asked
Questions

01
How long do Botox and Xeomin last?
The wrinkle-reducing effects of Botox last 3-4 months, depending on the dosage, your body’s metabolism, and the areas injected. Amanda and Dr. Hattier can put you on a treatment schedule so you get repeat injections at the right time and maintain your look.
You’ll see a reduction in lines and wrinkles within a few days of the injections, with full results in 7-10 days.
02
Do Botox and Xeomin injections hurt?
You will feel the prick of injections, but most people tolerate the procedure quite well. The needles are tiny and each procedure goes quickly. If you’re concerned about sensation, talk to Amanda and Dr. Hattier about using ice or numbing cream prior to treatment.
03
What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes excessive and unpredictable sweating in the palms, underarms, feet or face. Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis affects about 1 in 25 people and can be both embarrassing and bothersome.
Those affected seem to have overactive sweat glands that are more easily triggered into sweat production by anxiety and other heightened emotional states.
While the cause is unknown, the condition does seem to be hereditary and runs in families. The most common forms of hyperhidrosis are palmar hyperhidrosis (sweaty palms) and axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating.)
04
How to treat excessive sweating?
In general, Amanda and Dr. Hattier prefer to use the least invasive procedure possible to achieve the results that their patients are seeking. We are fortunate that Botox is a safe and effective remedy for excessive sweating.
05
What to expect from your
hyperhidrosis treatment?
During your consultation, Amanda and Dr. Hattier will perform a full medical evaluation to determine if Botox is the best solution for your condition. She will fully explain the procedure so that you know exactly what to expect from the treatment.
Botox for hyperhidrosis is a temporary solution and therefore, injections must be administered every 6 to 12 months. There is very little pain associated with this procedure and side effects are minimal but can include some redness and bruising, all of which should subside within a few days.
We always use ice to numb the area and for those with a lower pain threshold, topical numbing cream can be applied prior to treatment. Please be advised that it is necessary for the area to be clean and shaved prior to the injections.
